Introduction

Welcome to the English webpages of Italian Association "Amici di Raoul Follereau" (AIFO). AIFO is a grassroot organisation with groups and regional coordinations covering whole of Italy. At the same time, AIFO is an international non-governmental organisation active mainly in two areas - (1) fight against leprosy integrated in primary health care services; (2) Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) programmes open to all the different groups of persons with disabilities including persons with disabilities due to leprosy and persons with mental illness.

icon new articlePromoting Empowerment: Emancipatory research on role of CBR programme in overcoming barriers surrounding persons with CBR in Mandya district in India involved hundreds of persons with disabilities as research implementers and as active participants. From this experience a 35 page simple guide has been prepared to share ideas on how research can be a way to promote empowerment in CBR settings. This guide is available for free download. It is also available in French and Italian versions.
