Introduction
Welcome to the English webpages of Italian Association "Amici di Raoul Follereau" (AIFO). AIFO is a grassroot organisation with groups and regional coordinations covering whole of Italy. At the same time, AIFO is an international non-governmental organisation active mainly in two areas - (1) fight against leprosy integrated in primary health care services; (2) Community-based rehabilitation (CBR) programmes open to all the different groups of persons with disabilities including persons with disabilities due to leprosy and persons with mental illness.

Workshop Report: This workshop had looked at issues related to health, education, livelihoods, social relationships and
empowerment in relation to persons with intellectual disabilities.

Going Beyond The Taboos in CBR International
Workshop Report & documents: This workshop had focused on two areas - (1)
social relationships, sexuality and
reproductive rights; (2)
violence and abuse including sexual abuse towards persons with disabilities.

Impact of CBR quantitative research report: The
first phase of S-PARK/CBR research surveyed more than 2,500 persons with disabilities to look at the impact of CBR on their
lives in Mandya district in India. The global findings from this research are now available. Check this report.
Promoting Empowerment: Emancipatory research on role
of CBR programme in overcoming barriers surrounding persons with CBR in Mandya district in India involved hundreds of persons
with disabilities as research implementers and as active participants. From this experience a 35 page simple guide has been prepared to
share ideas on how research can be a way to promote empowerment in CBR settings. This guide is available for free download. It is also
available in
French and
Italian versions.
