Through
its groups, AIFO participated in the International Campaign for
Prevention of Child Abuse, promoted by Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF).
Here
is a small report from the AIFO group from Imperia, about their
activities for this campaign:
<<The Imperia A.I.FO.’ Group has celebrated the day in
the following way -
A handicrafts market was organised. In this market products made by
AIFO volunteers of Imperia were sold to collect funds for supporting a
vulnerable children project in Vila Esperança (Brazil).
Awareness was created about the day by presenting the international
poster and speaking about it to local media, to raise issues regarding
poverty, wars, sex tourism, slavery work, illnesses and so on.
At the churches of the city, during the Holy Masses on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th, a volunteer spoke about the
world day explaining the activities of AIFO to support children in
many parts of the world.
In a big hall we presented our pamphlets and information sheets
presenting data about the situation of children in the world.
On Thursday 23th, Susanna Bernoldi, one of the local responsible of
the Imperia Aifo Group was invited to a local event where they spoke
about Children Institutes and Family Houses, talking about the
progress in hosting children in danger, or with families with big
problems. Susanna was asked to present the international situation of
children in this meeting, and she explained about the world day for
prevention of child abuse.
We would
like to continue to use the “poster” of the world day through out
the year, so that the awareness campaign can continue.>>
