Initiatives linked to PHM carried out by AIFO during
2004-06: This has been a period of consolidation of
working for Right to Health. There were different initiatives carried out
by AIFO with many other partner organisations in this period. These include continuing promotion of Peoples'
Health Charter, participation in second People's Health Assembly in Cuenca
(Ecuador), etc. Some specific activities carried out in Italy
include:
Organisation of meetings and seminars: This
is an on-going activity. Different persons in Italy, some of them linked
to AIFO groups, other persons from other volunteer organisations, feel
involved in PHM and keep on organising regular awareness meetings coupled
with issues of local concern. In May 2005, about 30 such persons, came
together in Bologna to share their activities and to discuss them with Dr
Pam Zinkin, one of the pioneers of PHM in Europe region. (In the picture,

Working with university level students: In
collaboration with Osservatorio Italiano sulla salute Globale (Italian
Global Health Watch), different Italian universities have initiated
training modules on Global Health touching issues such as globalisation,
copyrights, privitisation of health services, etc. This is also an ongoing

Producing Italian Health Watch report:
This activity is also in contact with Osservatorio Italiano sulla salute
Globale (Italian Global Health Watch). A biannual report in Italian is
produced. Second report of this series came out in November 2006, focusing
on "Inequalities in Health". It includes a chapter on role of
civil society organisations in fighting against inequalities that also
considers the role of PHM. Edited by Dr Gavino Maciocco, contributors to
this report include Dr Giovanni Berlinguer, Dr Mira Shiva, Dr. Sunil
Deepak, Ms. Nicoletta Dentico & Dr. Angelo Stefanini. (In the picture
