About AIFO: Started in 1961, inspired by a French Journalist, Mr. Raoul Follereau, AIFO has the principle aim for fighting against leprosy. Over the last twenty years, AIFO has done pioneering work in community based rehabilitation of persons with leprosy related disabilities and other disabilities. AIFO has been an active participant in promoting the cause of canonization of Fr Damien for the past decades. At present AIFO supports projects dealing with leprosy, primary health care, disability & rehabilitation and vulnerable groups of children in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

About Francesco Colizzi: Francesco graduated in medicine from university of Bari and is a psychiatrist. He is President of AIFO and lives in Ostuni near Brindisi. As part of his role in AIFO, Francesco has visited many countries of Asia, Africa and South America, to see from the close the conditions of the marginalised groups of persons, including persons affected with leprosy and for promoting sustainable development.
