A politically and denominationally independent Canadian NGO. Established in 1961 following letters between its founder and his niece, a Canadian nurse working with leprosy patients in India, LR still wishes today to be the bridge between people suffering overseas and faithful donors here.

The mission of Leprosy Relief is twofold: to fight diseases of poverty overseas and to raise the Canadian people’s awareness of the issue.

Established to fight leprosy, Leprosy Relief extended its scope of action to include the fight against tuberculosis. This of course does not mean we have forgotten about leprosy, our main goal.

Leprosy Relief works to restore health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy or tuberculosis. We provide education and detection campaigns, medical treatment, social and economic rehabilitation programs. We work towards the long-term goal of a world without leprosy.
