December 2011:
University of Sydney and Disability & Rehabilitation team of World
Health Organisation (WHO/DAR) organised a Symposium "The
World Report on Disability: Implications for Asia and the Pacific"
that will be held in Sydney (Australia) on 5-6 December 2011. More

November 2011: A
Pre-congress workshop on "Conducting Emancipatory research in CBR"
coordinated by Dr Sunil Deepak was held at Hotel Pearl, Manila
(Philippines) from 27 to 28 November 2011, on the occasion of
second Asia Pacific CBR congress. 53 persons from 18 countries
participated in this workshop.
October 2011: AIFO
biannual conference was held in Bellaria (Rimini) from 21 to 23
October 2011. This conference will also mark the 50th anniversary of
foundation of AIFO in 1961. The main proceedings of this conference will
be only in Italian.
Before the starting of AIFO biannual conference, on
October 21, 2011, the Italian Network on Disability and
Development – RIDS – in collaboration with IDDC, held a
workshop on Italy’s commitment on the implementation of the UN
Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities in the field of
Development Cooperation. Read

The AIFO conference was followed by an International capacity building workshop for the AIFO country
coordinators, some project managers and partners, that will be held in
City Hotel (Bologna) from 25 to 28 October 2011.
October 2011: London
School of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Disability &
Rehabilitation team of World Health Organisation (WHO/DAR) are
organising a Symposium "Equitable Health Services for People with
disabilities" that will be held in LSHTM on 8 October 2011. During the
symposium, Dr Sunil Deepak from AIFO/Italy presented a paper on
"Research on empowerment - Emancipatory research in a CBR programme".

September 2011: AIFO's
annual course on leprology for Italian speaking students (doctors and
nurses) was held in collaboration with National Centre for Leprosy research (CIRLEP),
department of dermatology (Bologna university) and department of
infective diseases (Bologna university) in Bologna,
from 30 September to 1 October 2011. The course was directed by Prof. Enrico Nunzi.
April 2011: The
Scientific Advisory Group of Samagama Participatory Action Research and
Knowledge in Community-based Rehabilitation (S-PARK/CBR) met in
Bangalore India from 7 to 11 April 2011. This was followed by a
meeting with organisations of persons with disabilities (DPOs) and
S-PARK/CBR team on 12 April.
February 2011: The
