2009, there will be canonization of Fr Damien in St. Peter Square in
Rome. AIFO is organising a series of events around this important
occasion.
A week later, AIFO's biannual National Conference will be held in Assisi (Italy) from
17 to 18 October 2009.
May 2009: AIFO
annual General Assembly will be held in Rome (Italy) from 30 to 31 May
2009.
April 2009:
WHO/Global Leprosy Programme is organising the Global Programme
Managers' Meeting on Leprosy Control Strategy in New Delhi from 20 to 22
April 2009. At the same time, there will be a meeting of ILEP Technical
Commission (ITC). Dr Sunil Deepak, head of AIFO's Medical Support
department, and a member of ITC, will participate in the two meetings.
April 2009: Impact
assessment of Community-based Rehabilitation programmes in Mandya
district of Karnataka in India will kick start with a meeting for
finalising the research protocol. This meeting will be held in the
AIFO-India office in Bangalore in the first week of April 2009. This
initiative is part of the joint work-plan of AIFO with the Disability
and Rehabilitation team of the World Health Organisation (WHO/DAR).
February 2009: AIFO
collaborated with Disability and Rehabilitation team of World Health
Organisation (WHO/DAR) and many international partners including
Disabled People's International (DPI), International Federation of
Anti-leprosy Associations (ILEP), International Consortium for
Disability and Development, CBM, NAD, etc. for the organisation of three
international workshops related to Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR):
CBR and mental health, CBR and UN CRPD and, CBR and leprosy. These
workshops were held in Bangkok (Thailand). You can check the

January 2009: AIFO
mobilized all its supporters and groups for the annual World Leprosy Day
