October 2011: AIFO
biannual conference will be held in Bellaria (Rimini) from 21 to 23
October 2011. This workshop will also mark the 50th anniversary of
foundation of AIFO in 1961. The AIFO conference will be followed by an
International workshop for the AIFO country coordinators, some project
managers and partners, that will be held in Bellaria (Rimini) from 25 to
27 October 2011.
June 2011: AIFO's
annual course on leprology for Italian speaking students (doctors and
nurses) will be held in collaboration with San Martino hospital of
Genova and National Centre for Leprosy research (CIRLEP) in Bologna,
from 15 to 17 June 2011. The course is directed by Prof. Enrico Nunzi.
April 2011: The
Scientific Advisory Group of Samagama Participatory Action Research and
Knowledge in Community-based Rehabilitation (S-PARK/CBR) will meet in
Bangalore India from 7 to 11 April 2011. This will be followed by a
meeting with organisations of persons with disabilities (DPOs) and
S-PARK/CBR team on 12 April.
February 2011: The
following books are available free of cost for projects in
developing countries: (1) Leprosy in Africans A pictorial documentation
- Lepra nos Africanos Uma documentação fotogràfica (English and
Portuguese); (2) Don't treat me like I have leprosy by Tom Frist. Send

February 2009: AIFO
collaborated with Disability and Rehabilitation team of World Health
Organisation (WHO/DAR) and many international partners including
Disabled People's International (DPI), International Federation of
Anti-leprosy Associations (ILEP), International Consortium for
Disability and Development, CBM, NAD, etc. for the organisation of three
international workshops related to Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR):
CBR and mental health, CBR and UN CRPD and, CBR and leprosy. These
workshops were held in Bangkok (Thailand). You can check the

January 2009: AIFO
mobilized all its supporters and groups for the annual World Leprosy Day

Regional
workshop for south Asia on role of traditional medicine in promoting
Health for All, Bangalore, India, from 13 to 15 December 2006:
This workshop is part of a joint project of Italian NGOs (COE, AIFO,
Montserrat and MLAL) and is co-funded by Italian Foreign Ministry with
technical support from WHO. The workshop in India will
be organised jointly by AIFO/Italy and International People's Health
University in collaboration with other institutions from the region. AIFO workshops on
"CBR and Leprosy" and "CBR and Mental illness" will
bring together persons from different AIFO supported projects in India
to Bangalore on 11 and 12 December 2006.
Soroptimist Italy's Woman of the Year award was
received by AIFO's nominee, Ms. Sarmila Shrestha from WATCH-Nepal in a ceremony in Sanit Vincent on 1
December 2006. Our congratulations to Sarmila for this honour. You can

The Leprosy Mission International (TLMI) invites
nominations for the fifth Wellesley Bailey Awards. The Awards will be presented in
the first week of June 2007 at a unique awards ceremony in Switzerland.
The Awards are presented to people who have had leprosy and who have
made an outstanding contribution to society. Deadline for nominations
