This online learning course aims to promote reflections about the different ways in which CBR approach can be used to promote empowerment of persons with disabilities, families and communities. This course is aimed at CBR programmes, CBR workers and persons with disabilities.

The meaning of Empowerment for this course is that persons have real alternatives to choose from and the possibility to make decisions about all aspects of life that are usual for other non-disabled persons in the community.

This course uses both the words "persons with disabilities" and "disabled persons" to emphasise that we talking about persons and that societies and barriers play a key role in disabling them.
