I refer to
your message dated LML June 5th, 2005. I think Dr. Bide and
yourself may be looking at elimination from two different faces. While
I agree with you that true elimination should look at the incidence of
disease in the case of leprosy - case detection, we should also
recognise the point of reference of WHO/AFRO which is the registered
prevalence. I believe Bide's paper on post elimination refers to
projects with prevalence rate below 1 case per 10,000, however
unacceptable this indicator of elimination may be.
