Dear Salvatore,
I agree with Dr.
Warren (LML July 23rd, 2006) that Yawalkar's book is
very useful and has very good quality photographs. The two main drawbacks are a
very limited number of references (and many of these not up-to-date),
and some particular weak areas from a technical point of view. One of these is prevention of
disability. For example,
sensory testing is barely mentioned, if at all. The lack of current references
limits the scientific value of the book. If it were updated clinically
and technically, it would be the handbook of choice for health workers
and clinicians. Perhaps
an electronic version could be posted on the web?
