Dear All,
This abstract titled" Impact of Prevention
of Disability (POD) Services in two talukas of Thane District in
Maharashtra" by Pai V. V.and R. Ganapati, Mumbai, India (LML 2nd
May 2006) is rightly circulated to the readers of LML at a time
when National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP), India is preparing
five year national plan to implement "Disability Prevention and
Medical Rehabilitation (DPMR)" for patients living with leprosy
related disabilities.
Experiences
gained at such micro levels (talukas/sub-districts) should also
become guiding note while practising DPMR. Similarly POD conference
in Cebu in September 13-16,2006 (LML of 2nd May of Dr. P. Saunderson,
ALM) would provide practical field guidelines in this direction.
