Dear Salvatore,
A Consensus Development Conference on Prevention of
Disability (POD) was recently held in Cebu, Philippines, involving
about 100 practitioners, experts, program managers and people affected
by leprosy. There was agreement on a renewed focus on issues of
coverage and accessibility. The importance of empowerment and
self-efficacy, as the essential basis for self-care, was stressed.
