Please find in attachment a newspaper
article from the 4 April 2006 Deccan Chronicle, of Andhra Pradesh,
India, entitled <<Beggars to get 3
yr workhouse>>, outlining the new law/High Court direction
in that state which provides for detention in the workhouse for
beggars, who include "diseased and leprosy affected"
persons.
I wonder if this is a new initiative of
rehabilitation, Indian-style, or an example of problem elimination? Perhaps one of our colleagues
from Andhra Pradesh can inform us how the new directive has been
working in the past 2 months?
