The proposal presented by Dr. van Brakel (LML July 22nd,
2006) seems to me quite opportune.
In addition, if publishers of Hastings’ Leprosy would include
it in public domain, a group in each leprosy endemic country should
consider to be responsible for the translation of the mentioned series
of loose chapters to be published in Internet. In what regards
Portuguese, once authorized, the Instituto Lauro de Souza Lima would
take the responsibility to translate to Portuguese.
I would recommend other Institutions to consider this
possibility in the remaining leprosy endemic countries for other
languages.
