Leprosy Mailing List – June 11th, 2007

Ref.:     Lepromin

From:   Periche-Fernandez J.D., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Dear Salvatore,

I am reviewing skin testing in leprosy.  I cannot find concrete sources of information about lepromin.

I would like to know how common lepromin use is in the world today?  Wherever lepromin is used today and wherever it was used in the past?

What was it lepromin A or H?  Was it self made or imported?  If imported from where? Who made lepromin to Export?  Who still exports lepromin?

Maybe more important which groups of patients / contacts were screened with lepromin?  Who are still screened today?

What is the reason for the reduced use of lepromin today?

Thanks.
