admits ILEP into official relations (see

Dear Salvatore,
I am attaching a news item
which may be of interest to the LML readers. It reports that the
Executive Board of the WHO has recently decided to admit ILEP into
Official Relations with WHO. I believe this is an important
opportunity to further enhance the already established collaboration
between ILEP and WHO. Dr V.J. Pannikar, the Medical Director and
team leader of the WHO’s Global Leprosy Programme has been appointed
as the Designated Technical Officer for our relations. ILEP
looks forward to building on the achievements of the Global Leprosy
Programme and in particular to the continuing promotion and
implementation of the WHO Global Strategy for further reducing the
Leprosy Burden and sustaining Leprosy Control Activities.
