ENL reaction after completion of the 12-month MDT regimen is a well
known phenomenon. It
happened too when the treatment period was 24 months, but less. It
was one of the arguments against the 12 month MDT treatment. But
WHO never listens. I have
in the past suggested that patients who develop ENL during treatment
or are in risk of developing it after treatment, should continue
clofazimine for another 1-2 years.
